To enhance the health literacy and disease-prevention capabilities of local residents, on October 6, Wuxi Haijia Hospital dispatched medical staff to Taihu Zhuangyuan in Xueyan Town, Wujin District, Changzhou City—located near a neighboring hospital—to conduct a National Day–themed health education and awareness campaign.
During the emergency first-aid training, medical personnel provided a systematic overview of the standard operating procedures for adult cardiopulmonary resuscitation and AED use, breaking down key steps such as assessing consciousness, performing chest compressions, and administering rescue breaths. They also demonstrated the proper technique for using an automated external defibrillator, helping residents effectively acquire essential emergency response skills.
Addressing common gastrointestinal diseases among middle-aged and older adults, medical professionals provided detailed public education on the prevention and management of colorectal polyps and colorectal cancer, emphasizing that, as a leading malignancy of the digestive tract, colorectal cancer can be effectively prevented and controlled through early screening. They highlighted the etiology, early symptoms, and intervention strategies for polyps, urging residents to prioritize gastroscopic and colonoscopic examinations and adopt the health mindset that “prevention is better than cure, and early screening and diagnosis are key.”
The event also included a health‑consultation session, during which medical staff provided expert answers to residents’ various health‑related questions and offered personalized health guidance.
This science‑education event is a concrete step taken by Wuxi Haijia Hospital to fulfill its social responsibilities and serve the local community. Moving forward, the hospital will continue to organize a diverse array of health‑promotion and public‑service initiatives, safeguarding the health of residents in Wuxi and the neighboring areas of Changzhou surrounding Mashan Subdistrict (Wuxi Taihu National Tourism Resort).
