Recently, a 5-year-old child from Kazakhstan, a Central Asian country, with a congenital thumb deformity was successfully discharged after undergoing corrective surgery at Wuxi Haijia Hospital. This follows the hospital’s earlier treatment of a Malaysian patient, marking another young patient who traveled from a country along the Belt and Road Initiative. From Southeast Asia to Central Asia, Wuxi Haijia Hospital is steadily expanding its international healthcare footprint, with its medical influence continuing to grow among overseas patient communities.

Reputation crosses borders, and trust extends into Central Asia.

The boy was diagnosed at birth with a congenital deformity of the left thumb; his abnormal appearance and limited function have long been a source of concern for his family. Faced with limited local medical resources, his parents sought advice from various sources and eventually turned to Wuxi Haijia Hospital. Previously, a young patient from Malaysia had received successful treatment there, and word-of-mouth among overseas patient families has drawn increasing attention from families in countries along the Belt and Road Initiative to this Chinese hospital. The arrival of this Kazakhstani child is a testament to the natural extension of that chain of trust.

Sincere collaboration ensures safe passage, living up to the trust placed in us across borders.

In response to the trust placed in them by international patients, the hospital has mobilized a multidisciplinary team to honor every patient’s confidence. Prior to surgery, the hand surgery team, in collaboration with the radiology department, precisely delineated the child’s skeletal and joint deformities. With close coordination between the anesthesiology department and the operating room, the team successfully performed corrective surgery to restore the appearance of the deformed thumb and reconstruct its function. The exceptional expertise of the involved medical teams and their seamless, efficient collaboration have laid a solid foundation for the patient’s subsequent recovery of both appearance and function.

Warm-hearted care throughout the journey—strangers’ lands feel like home.

In addition to providing meticulous care for surgical wounds, the inpatient nursing team attentively accommodated the children’s families’ religious beliefs and dietary preferences, arranging specially prepared halal meals. The staff’s thoughtfulness and patience eased the anxiety of both the young patients and their parents, helping them feel safe and comfortable while receiving medical care in a foreign country. Before discharge, the healthcare team offered comprehensive rehabilitation guidance, outlining a clear plan for ongoing home care and bringing this cross‑border medical journey to a successful conclusion.

The pediatric patients admitted to the hospital come from countries spanning Southeast Asia to Central Asia—this represents not only an expansion of geographic reach but also a growing testament to trust. Wuxi Haijia Hospital is sowing seeds of confidence along the Belt and Road nations, driven by its unwavering commitment to cutting-edge medical expertise and compassionate care. Moving forward, the hospital will remain dedicated to its promise of “making healthcare warmer,” ensuring that heartfelt compassion transcends borders and enabling more international patients to receive high‑quality medical services here.
